A&S at Lionsdale Champions 2010

Postby kayleigh on Sat Apr 17, 2010 10:55 am

Greetings!

Lionsdale Champions is quickly approaching and I am pleased to announce the theme for the A&S competition at this years event.

"Champion starts with C"
So do cake, cross-stitch, chairs, chivalry, calligraphy, costume, cartography, Celts...

All entries should start with the letter C. They should also be accompanied by sufficient documentation to show period appropriateness (methods of creation, use of item in period, existance of item in period).

Please consider entering especially if you have never tried your hand at Arts & Sciences before. If you'd like assistance with documentation or someone to bounce ideas off please don't hesistate to contact me at kayleigh@noaharney.com. In a related note there will be a free "Intro to A&S Research Online" course May 5th at the Chilliwack Public Library taught by my husband and I -- contact us to register :)

I particularly encourage those who have not tried A&S to enter. I had never entered an A&S competition before and in fact have been to a total of three including the Heraldic symposium where I entered the A&S competition and it was so much fun. So try it out, you'll have fun and you just might win a prize! And even if you don't you will get some great feedback from some very talented and experienced A&S people.

Remember A&S is fun and even documentation can be fun. I definitely had fun with mine.

I second Mama's thanks to Kayleigh. I'm excited that we have such a broad theme again this year, with lots of advance notice! I look forward to being a guest judge *hint hint*... unless I decide to enter myself. :o

Thank you to all the gentles who entered the A&S Competition and to all the judges for their support and assistance.

The judges and I were very happy to have so many entries (8 this year) with many of them being brand-new to A&S competitions.

Our winner was Dame Elena de Maisnilwarin with a fascinating Cochineal dying project. I also gave out a gift to a notable new-comer Tessa di Aquila who performed the dance Contrapasso in duo.

I hope to be releasing information soon on the Winter's Tournament competition - information will be posted to the appropriate space on the forums.

Many thanks
